Cognitive Hypnotherapy is a branch of hypnotherapy that blends the principles of hypnosis with tools from other therapeutic disciplines such as CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy), IFS or “parts therapy”, NLP (Neuro Linguistic Programming), EMI (Eye Movement Integration), Schema Therapy, Positive Psychology and Coaching. I’ve found this approach to be the most effective in formulating lasting change in my clients.
In Cognitive Hypnotherapy we believe that trance is an everyday phenomenon that most people experience. Many of us have been hypnotised into acting or feeling a certain way, be that seeing distorted proportions in the mirror, irrational knee jerk reactions, compulsively seeking relief from pain and dissatisfaction, or a deep-seated negative self belief that feels like a universal truth. The experiences of our lives have programmed us into ways of thinking and acting that don’t serve us, and sometimes they even cause pain and dysfunction in our lives. Cognitive Hypnotherapy seeks to de-programme those patterns and beliefs using a blended approach. I aim to create a path to healing that aligns with your unique experiences of the world and prioritises your personal goals, values and needs so that you can become free to believe what you choose and to be the ‘you’ you were always meant to be.

NLP (Neuro Linguistic Programming) refers to a set of principles that focus on the relationship between our mental processes, language patterns and behavioural patterns. These patterns have emerged as a result of our natural preferences, social conditioning and life experiences. NLP can help us to better understand those relationships and promote self awareness. Armed with a greater understanding of the processes and influences that drive our behaviours, habits, reactions and emotional responses, we can pave the way for facilitating lasting change.
NLP can make a significant difference for those experiencing anxiety, depression, phobias or compulsive habits, as it works by “re-programming” the way we process and respond to information. It can also be used to identify a person’s unique strengths and successes, highlight their core components and map those strengths onto new situations.

EMI uses eye movement and bi-laeral tapping to re-process memories. It is a powerful technique that is often used to combat limiting beliefs, trauma and phobias. It works by helping the client reframe, reprocess or even scramble a memory, so that the problematic feelings or behaviours they experience in their day to day lessens over time. EMI uses principles of NLP to identify specific quadrants of the visual field, which allows the client to make contact with either a highly resourceful state or re-experience of the memory. The re-processing and integration that follows strips the power out of significant emotional events from the past and reduces the impact of triggers that would normally leave clients feeling hijacked or overwhelmed. It creates space for clients to choose to respond to events in the present moment in ways that better reflect their beliefs, identity and values.

I charge £75 per 60 minute session. I also offer stand alone 75 minute EMI sessions for £95 (although some of my EMI clients prefer to work within their weekly 60 minute sessions).
Too expensive?
I believe therapy should be accessible to everyone, and try to keep my prices as low as I can to extend my reach. However, for some, it’s still not low enough. I know first hand the frustration of money being the only barrier between you and the help you need, so if you are a student, unemployed, on a low income, claiming Universal Credit or PIP, I’m dedicated to keeping a set amount of concession slots available each week that are charged at a lower rate.
